This was a little surprise project from the Big Adventure in New York City. I was visiting this-divine-yarn-store, and was looking at all their fabulous scarves and other knitted and crochetted goodness.
Of course, most of the lovely projects were knitted, but I did find one rather scrumptious crochet number. It was called Knitty City Crochet Shoulder Shawl by Susan Haviland. If buying the yarn at Knitty City, the pattern is free.
I decided on some gorgeous Koigu yarn. I love the mix of pink and golden tones. Koigu is a lovely 100% merino wool yarn, hand dyed in Canada.
For Aussies / New Zealanders, try Yarn Glorious Yarn for a lovely selection of Koigu, and I’m pretty sure the shipping is free.
Of course, I know it’s meant to be a shoulder shawl, but I’m just not that into shawls and decided to make a scarf. After way too many rows to start again, I realised I hadn’t made it long enough for a scarf, so I’m thinking I will join it very neatly and very invisibly at the end and make a cowl! What do you think? Will that work?
The pattern is really simple, fast and effective I think.
PS: I forgot to mention, please excuse the chewed dining chair – Moo seems to like the taste of them!
The yarn is fantastic. It looks like a wonderful project to work on.
So luscious – love this! =D
Such a beautiful yarn!
Beautiful yarn and colours! Better pay a visit to the Knitty City. and yes, joining them at the ends to make a cowl will work … I do it all the time, when I run out of yarn and it isn’t long enough to be a scarf. lol
the colours are just beautiful and it will make a lovely cowl, especially in a light sock yarn, you’ll be able to wear it all year round, lovely!
truly beautiful colours! I love it!
