It was such a lovely spring day today. That means only one thing, of course, a Crochet Day! And, what better place to crochet, but at the Royal Melbourne Show, with the lovely ladies from Yarn Corner.
Yarn Corner is a Melbourne-based yarn bombing group. Their website tagline says it all, “Covering the Town in Yarn”. And by “town”, what they currently mean is the Royal Melbourne Show. In fact, their “A Life in Yarn” installation includes a completely yarn covered 4-bedroom house, car, caravan, and backyard equipment.
The highlight of the house would have to be the yarn bombed bathroom, complete with toilet, hand basin, bath filled with water (granny squares in all shades of blue), towel rack, rubber duckies and much more.
But Best in Show has to go to the Car and Caravan.
I believe about 60 people contributed all up, from peeps like me who sent in a few squares, to whole pieces / blankets / couch covers / vases … and just so much more.
Led by worthy leader Bali, Yarn Corner has members all over the world, with contributors posting in their bombing preparations.
If you’re in Melbourne and have a spare moment, it’s well worth a look. Just stay away from the showbag pavilion, I’m still recovering!
Wow! I’m not usually much into yarn bombing but that does look amazing, thanks for sharing.
No worries Patch! I agree with you about some yarn bombing ~ it’s gotta be pretty spectacular to stand out.
I don’t know why Bali’s hands aren’t permanently cramped into crochet position…she’s a machine!
I love the african flowers π

Yes, such a HUGE amount of work went into it all. It was so nice to see it, and to meet some of the lovely ladies involved.
