It’s good to be back home. I missed my lovely Moo ~ and the gorgeous autumn weather we’ve been having. It’s also lovely to be back amongst all things yarny. I seem to come up with my best crochet ideas when I have neither the right yarn nor the right hook available. 4 days with only a 4mm hook ~ it seemed like it would work at the time!
Talking about crochet ideas, below are some sneak-peak photos of my latest project. I must confess though, that this idea wasn’t mine ~ I stole it off a friend (hi Lisa)! And worse still, I haven’t yet confessed in-person about this act of thievery, so this will be the first that Lisa knows of it, oops! π
I’ve wanted to do something with Noro Silk Garden for years. I see gorgeous sample garments and things made up with Noro in yarn stores, but even though I always admire them, nothing has even seemed quite “me” before… before Lisa’s Afghan Idea that is.
One of the special things about Noro Silk Garden is how amazing the colours are. Also, the colour you see on the outside might be completely different to the colours inside. Rather than try and match it, I just buy a new ball of any colour whenever I’m running low.
What a beautiful creation!
Thankyou! π x
Gorgeous. I just might have to get some and make something. I am thinking a c2c would be really pretty with this yarn….
Thankyou! I will have to admit that I didn’t actually know what a c2c was ~ so thankyou, you’ve taught me something new today! π
Oh, I have also always wanted to use Noro to make something. This afghan is gorgeous and a fabulous idea. I must try it. THank you.
Thanks for your comment Karen – I’ve just replied to your other comment. My apologies, I must have missed approving this comment earlier – so sorry about that!
Anything made in Noro is amazing!
I know, it’s lovely yarn isn’t it? I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve actually used it.
Wow fantastic afghan!! Lots of Hugz Lisa and Bear
Thanks so much Lisa (and Bear)! xxx
What a jewel of a blanket. I’ve never used Noro but I always admire and squish them in the shops.
Thanks Lucie! This is my first time of using Noro – I’ve never really been sure what to do with it, but I’m really happy with this so far. x
[Mark heads out the door to find himself some Noro… There are afghans to be made!]
On a more serious note, you’ve done a fantastic job. What a great choice of yarn!
Haha! Im’ glad you like it! Enjoy making your own. π x
Wow the colours are gorgeous, and the afghan is such a great project to show off the colours!
Thanks so much for your comment – I’m glad you like it. I really had no idea how the colours would turn out, but I’m really happy with it. x
Hi. I. So sorry to email you directly but I could not figure out how else to ask you a question without commenting again. Is there a pattern you used for the granny square afghan? I have to try the Noro and make a small one. I love this. It’s spectacular. Also, where do you get your Noro from?
Thank you so much, Karen

Hi Karen
No worries at all! I haven’t used a particular pattern, but it’s just a basic granny square pattern. The main thing is that between each set of 3 trebles (UK speak), I didn’t do a 1 chain space, and at each corner I just did 2 chains.
So, the side it 3 x treble in each space of previous round, no chain space, then the next lot of 3 x treble. The corners are 3 x treble, 2 chain, 3 x treble.
Also, I used a 5mm crochet hook.
Kind regards,
Terri
